Asheville Eye Surgery Center Celebrates 8 Years of Excellence
The Asheville Eye Surgery Center celebrates eight ( 8) years in operation as of March 3, 2012. Asheville Eye Associates’ Surgeons have performed approximately 30,000 surgical procedures in the AESC since its opening in 2004, consistently delivering a high level of positive surgical results as measured by outcomes data which is collected and monitored. The AESC is utilized exclusively for cataract, corneal, glaucoma, oculoplastic, and other ophthalmic surgeries.
The AESC also consistently earns high marks from patients in quarterly Patient Satisfaction Surveys (the overall average for 2011 was 98 %). Patients are surveyed in the following categories: 1) Surgery Schedulers were professional and Helpful; 2)Check-in Process was smooth and efficient; 3)Surgeon met your expectations; 4)Anesthesia provider answered your questions and concerns; 5)Nursing staff answered questions or concerns; 6)Confident that your surgery was correctly verified; 7)Staff properly educated you about post-operative care; 8)Your billing questions or concerns were answered; 9)Surgery Center was neat and clean; 10)How was your overall surgical experience. When patients were asked, “How likely are you to recommend us to a colleague, friend or family member 95% responded “Extremely Likely” in the 2011 surveys.
The AESC attributes its excellence in care and tremendous success ensuring patient satisfaction and positive surgical outcomes to the collaborative efforts of our outstanding Surgeons, AESC surgical team and AEA staff.
“We are very fortunate to have such talented staff with a broad range of experience, knowledge and skills that are truly dedicated to ensuring the quality of care to our patients and success of our facility,” said Susie Winterling, RN, CASC, AESC Administrator. “We are proud that our patient results speak volumes to a job well done in that our patient satisfaction rating is 98% for our patients’ overall surgical experience,” she said.

AEA supports UNC-Asheville
On Saturday, February 25 AEA sponsored the last regular season game for the UNC-Asheville men’s basketball team. We gave out 1,000 pairs of sunglasses to Bulldog fans to remind folks of the importance of protecting their vision from the sun’s harmful rays. The Bulldogs won the season closer vs. Winthrop 67-55 and clinched the championship title of the Big South Conference. Play begins on February 29 for the Big South tournament. Go Bulldogs!
Calling all volunteers!
MARRS, the Mountain Area Radio Reading Service, is looking for a General Manager. MARRS' is a totally non-profit organization whose function is to record volunteers reading local newspapers and magazines, which we then broadcast on the subcarrier frequencies of WNCW 99.7and WCQS 88.1. MARRS' audience is blind, sight-impaired and prints impaired individuals in Western North Carolina. General Manager volunteer position is an 18 1/2 hour per week job that entails managing a corps of 35 volunteer readers, scheduling volunteer time, and recording readers using a computer-based recording equipment. The time commitment would be roughly 3, 4, or 5 hours during weekday mornings. Familiarity and comfort with computers is required, and a positive, pleasant and friendly outlook is desired. This is a people job. Dress is casual. Recording studio is centrally located on the ground floor of an apartment building and is handicapped accessible.
