Dr. Bashinsky is a board-certified ophthalmologist with dual specialties in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Bryn Mawr College, and she received her Medical Degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Bashinsky also served as President, American Medical Women’s Association, Wake Forest University School of Medicine Chapter. She completed her internship at Carilion Health System in Roanoke, VA. Following her residency in ophthalmology at Wake Forest University Eye Center in Winston-Salem, NC, Dr. Bashinsky completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at Eye Consultants of Atlanta, Scottish Rite Office in Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Bashinsky is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Bashinsky has served as Assistant Professor, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the University of Kentucky Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in Lexington, KY, since 2005. Dr. Bashinsky joined Asheville Eye Associates in 2007.
Dr. Bashinsky also provides ophthalmologic exams for neonates at Mission Hospital for the treatment of Retinopathy of Prematurity. Her expertise in ROP is recognized nationally in publications as well as professional associations, which include the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Dr. Bashinsky is also fluent in Spanish. In addition to her professional interests, Dr.Bashinsky enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Her hobbies include running, biking, hiking and snow skiing.
